I’m Nicola - Let’s just start by saying this: I’ve always loved flowers. My interest in floristry began when I was planning my own wedding. Despite Sydney offering hundreds of different wedding floral designers, I just couldn’t find what I was looking for (within a reasonable budget). So, after searching for inspiration online, I decided that it was time to try taking on the mammoth task of being a DIY bride.

I wanted to learn everything there was to know about floral design. With the help of classes at Sydney Flower School, I mastered the technical side of flower arranging and grew my knowledge of different flowers and how they worked together. I wanted to use my training, and a natural eye for design, to create wild, unstructured, and romantic designs for everyone to enjoy.

My love for flowers and floral arrangements grew way past a fun hobby, and I created my own business, “Forever Flower Girl,” in 2017.
The name didn’t quite sit right – after all, we’re all sophisticated ladies here,  right? Finally, I rebranded to “The Flower Creative,” and the rest is history!

One of my favourite things about flowers is their versatility. I’ve always had a love for fashion and wearing unique, statement pieces designed to make any outfit pop. Flower crowns quickly became a staple of any event I went to. From formal balls to a day at the races, I was always decked out in vibrant, eye-catching pieces that drew compliments for days. 

The only problem? Every business I commissioned for my flower crowns delivered poor quality pieces, and sometimes didn’t understand what I wanted at all. Determined to make my visions come to life, I started making my own headpieces, and the response was overwhelming. Friends and strangers began contacting me, asking to create custom flower crowns for their big events. I was blown away, and decided to change my direction.

Already a self-taught florist, I quickly got to work and added flower crown workshops to The Flower Creative’s service menu. Over the last five years, this service has become our most popular. Mainly with hens parties and bridal showers every weekend. However, we also host fresh and dried flower crown making, dried floral wreath making and dried flower arranging parties for birthdays, baby showers and corporate team bonding. I love seeing the look on my guests’ faces as they create their own beautiful custom pieces. 

I mean, hanging out at hen’s parties every weekend. Tough gig, right?

During lockdown, it became impossible to host the workshops that The Flower Creative is so loved for. I had a slight pivot and started selling dried flower arrangements and found a new and exciting passion; e-commerce
– watch this space!

One of my greatest passions is supporting women in business. As word of mouth spread, I couldn’t take on the demand by myself. Now, I have the privilege of working with knowledgeable, wonderful employees who share my vision of quality, unique flowers for every occasion. The Flower Creative proudly services all across Greater Sydney, from the Blue Mountains to Wollongong as well as Central Coast, Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, South Coast & Southern Highlands with plans to expand to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Melbourne & Perth - no matter where you are, we want to bring flower crown making party experiences to you!

At the Flower Creative, I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Every party is unique and colour palettes are individually designed by me, I want to help my guests create memorable moments that they will treasure forever. I take the same approach to my business as I do everything in life. Quality is at the heart of my business plan, and I am passionate about delivering classic one-of-a-kind experiences that my guests love.
